Only three games dotted the schedule during the fourth week of action in PLFA II, although those three included a classic between the BEagles and Lakers in Warsaw. In other action, the Sabercats pounded the Archers for their first victory of the season and the Wilki made it two straight to open the season with a win over the Werewolves. Here is a short recap of each of the three games.

Warsaw BEagles 43, Olsztyn Lakers 36 (in Warsaw)

The BEagles and Lakers combined for the fifth-most points in PLFA II history on Sunday, in a game that saw the lead constantly change hands before Warsaw wrested control late in the third quarter to come away with a 43-36 victory. The BEagles, who were the runners-up in PLFA 8 last season, were making their PLFA II debut.

Artur Górski threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Piotr Pamulak to open the scoring, but Olsztyn answered with a 39-yard touchdown run by Kamil Polski and a two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead after a quarter. The Lakers scored again to go ahead 14-7, before Warsaw countered with two touchdowns to take a 20-14 halftime lead.

The teams combined for 35 points in a wild third quarter that first saw Olsztyn tie the game on a touchdown reception by Adam Moleń. Warsaw went ahead again on another long Pamulak touchdown reception, only to see the Lakers re-take the lead on Polski's second touchdown run and another two-point conversion.

Holding a 28-27 advantage at that point, Olsztyn got the ball back but promptly fumbled it away. Robert Latuszek seized the momentum for Warsaw, picking up the loose ball and running it back 35-yards for a touchdown that shifted the lead for the final time. Pamulak scored his third touchdown of the game to make it 41-28 for the BEagles at the end of the third quarter, and Warsaw added a safety before the Lakers scored a final time on a 37-yard Piotr Zawadzki run.

Even in defeat, the Lakers took a big step forward. The team has now lost all 12 of its PLFA games, including 8 over two seasons in PLFA II. Olsztyn will get their next shot at a victory on June 2, when they play the Warszawa Crusaders in the capital. The BEagles will also play their next game against the Crusaders, as the nominal road team in a derby game on June 16.

Sopot Sabercats 46, Bydgoszcz Archers 6 (in Bydgoszcz)

The Sabercats got six touchdown passes from Luke Zetazate to recover from an opening-week loss and rout the Archers 46-6 in Bydgoszcz. Przemysław Portalski was on the receiving end of three of Zetazate's scoring tosses, while Paweł Kaczanowski caught a pair.

Portalski did all of his damage early on, scoring the first three touchdowns of the game to give Sopot a 20-0 lead early in the second quarter. Maciej Demianiuk scored a defensive touchdown for the Sabercats shortly thereafter, and the first of Kaczanowski's scores put Sopot ahead 32-0 at the half. The Sabercats led 46-0 in the fourth quarter, before Filip Klause finally got the Archers on the scoreboard with a 15-yard touchdown run.

Both Sopot and Bydgoszcz are in the middle of the North Division pack early in the season. The Sabercats, with a record of 1-1, will next host the Szczecin Cougars, who won their first game of the season, on June 15. The Archers, with a record of 1-2, will be back in action on June 1, when they will be the road team for the Bydgoszcz derby. Their opponents, the Raiders, lost their first game of the year.

Pabianice Wilki 29, Warsaw Werewolves 6 (in Warsaw)

The Wilki jumped out to a big lead in the first half to hand the Werewolves their second home loss of the season, winning 29-6 in the capital. Szymon Siotor scored three touchdowns for the Wilki, who now sit alone atop the PLFA II Central Division with a record of 2-0.

Pabianice went ahead in the first quarter when Siotor ran the ball in from the 4-yard line. Kamil Kaczmarek doubled the lead in the second quarter with an 8-yard touchdown run, and Siotor then added a 7-yard touchdown reception. Roland Rzepecki converted all three PATs to give the Wilki a 21-0 halftime lead. The Werewolves got their first points of the season in the fourth quarter, courtesy of a 20-yard pass from Dominik Glinka to Bartosz Gwiździł.

Both teams will face the Warszawa Królewscy as their next opponent. The Werewolves will have that honor first, facing the Królewscy on June 15 as the first in a series of three consecutive road games. The Wilki will wait until June 29 for their next visit to the capital, which comes as the second in their own set of three straight on the road.
