On December 1 the Polish League of American Football (PLFA) held a meeting in Warsaw devoted to the organization of the 2013 PLFA 8 season. It was decided that the third season of 8-man play would include 20 different teams representing 19 Polish cities.

Play in 2013 will continue to use the tournament format, with the teams divided into five different four-team groups based on geography.

Elimination-round tournaments in each group are scheduled for the weekends of August 17-18 and September 7-8. These regular season tournaments will be held in Bydgoszcz, Chrzanów, Chorzów, Kielce, Leszno, Opole, Ostrołęka, Przemyśl, Zabrze and Zielona Góra.

The new wrinkle added to PLFA 8 for 2013 are its quarterfinal tournaments. Five group winners and the three best second-place teams will advance to play in these two tournaments, held in Opole and Ostrołęka on the weekend of September 21-22. The four teams that play the best on those two days will go to Częstochowa on the weekend of October 5-6 for the third PLFA 8 championship tournament.

Six of the twenty teams will be composed of reserves from Topliga teams, while five teams will feature reserves from PLFA II squads. The Wrocław Devils and the Warsaw Eagles will be the only two clubs in Poland to have teams competing in four different classes of competition in the coming season – Topliga, PLFA II, PLFA 8 and PLFA J.

The 2013 PLFA 8 season will allow 9 teams to make their official Polish League of American Football debuts. Those teams are the Chrzanów Black Hawks, Kielce Jokers, Krakow Kings, KS Kurpie & Łomża Jackals, Leszno Hunters, Poznań Patrioci, Przemyśl Bears, Zabrze Sparta Rangers and Opole Wolverines.
