Warsaw Sharks 47, Wyszków Rhinos 14 (in Warsaw)

The Warsaw Sharks completed an undefeated first half of the regular season on Saturday, trouncing the visiting Wyszków Rhinos 47-14. The Sharks offense exploded in the second quarter, racking up 26 points on four Luke Zetazate touchdown passes. Zetazate finished the game with five touchdown passes and a scoring run as well, while Jędrzej Kubica and Mateusz Poneta each found themselves on the receiving end of a pair of scoring tosses. The Rhinos fell to 2-2, although they are still in the playoff hunt as part of a three-way tie for second place in the North Division.

The Sharks botched the snap on their first play from scrimmage, a mistake that led to a 4-yard Tyler Williams touchdown run and an early Wyszków lead. Warsaw rallied to take the lead before the first quarter ended on a 25-yard touchdown run by Zetazate and an 11-yard touchdown run by Rafał Frąk, before breaking the game wide open in the second quarter. Much of the second half was played under the running clock rules after a safety extended the 39-6 halftime lead to 35 points. Kubica made it 47 straight points for the Sharks with a 4-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, and Williams hit Bartosz Szymański for a 15-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to give the Rhinos something to smile about.

Łódzkie Wilki 18, Silesia Rebels 6 (in Łódź)

The Łódzkie Wilki took advantage of six Silesia Rebels turnovers on Saturday to come away with an 18-6 victory in cold and rainy Łódź. The result created a logjam in the middle of the PLFA I South Division standings, where both the Wilki and the Rebels sit tied with the Warsaw Dukes in second place at 2-2 halfway through the regular season. All three teams are currently two games behind the runaway division leader, the Krakow Kings.

The Wilki scored on their opening possession, courtesy of a 25-yard scamper by Rafał Zapart. They doubled their advantage to 12-0 when Wojciech Krawczyk pulled in a 15-yard touchdown pass by Damian Waszczyk, although the Rebels were able to make it 12-6 at the break after a 15-yard touchdown run by Jan Trojniak. They would not score again, however, and Dexter Russel Jr.'s 70-yard touchdown dash in the third quarter took much of the drama out of the endgame. The two teams will meet again on May 28 in Katowice.

Krakow Kings 38, Gliwice Lions 0 (in Gliwice)

The Krakow Kings finished off an unbeaten first half of the regular season on Sunday with a 38-0 whitewashing of the Lions in Gliwice. Szymon Wesołowski had two first-half rushing touchdowns for Krakow, including a 60-yarder that set the tone for the game in the first quarter. The Kings reach the halfway point with a commanding two-game lead in the PLFA I South Division, while the Lions remain winless in 2017.

Filip Mościcki ran 12 yards through the snowflakes in the second quarter for a score that made it 12-0, and his 7-yard touchdown pass to Łukasz Korpak made it 24-0 at halftime. The Kings emptied the bench in the second half, and Paweł Dzierwa stepped in well at quarterback to lead Krakow to two touchdown drives in the third quarter. Jarosław Baran and Marcin Masłoń capped off those marches to give the Kings five different players on the scoresheet.

AZS UWM Olsztyn Lakers 38, Kozły Poznań 35 (in Olsztyn)

Piotr Gołacki's 30-yard field goal in the second overtime completed a wild come-from-behind victory for the AZS UWM Olsztyn Lakers, who rallied from a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Kozły Poznań 38-35 on Sunday in Olsztyn. Jamar Dials threw three touchdown passes for Olsztyn and tied the game late in the fourth quarter with a 20-yard touchdown run, while Łukasz Bentka scored three times in his first game back from a one-and-a-half year retirement for Kozły.

Kozły drew first blood with a short pick-six by Antoni Idziak, and the teams traded touchdowns later in the first quarter to leave Poznań ahead 14-7. The lead grew to 28-7 after touchdown runs by Patryk Barczak and Bentka, before the Lakers launched their furious comeback. Kamil Polski cut the lead to 15 with a short touchdown run and Dials then hit Gołacki with a 13-yard scoring strike to make it a one-possession game. Bentka put Kozły ahead for a third time with a 9-yard touchdown run in the first overtime series, but Polski tied the game again with a 13-yard touchdown reception ahead of Gołacki's winning boot.
